Overnight low temperatures will hover in the single digit range on the lower Sunshine Coast until the weekend, according to Weatherhood. With the lows still above the freezing mark and no precipitation in the Environment Canada forecast for our area for the next seven days, there is no risk of snow in our area in the coming week.

As other areas of B.C. (including Whistler and Revelstoke) have already seen the arrival of the "white stuff" this Fall, local residents are reminded that winter tires or chains on vehicles are required on a number of routes in from October 1 to April 30. That's important to consider if planning vehicle travel to other areas of the province for the upcoming Thanksgiving long weekend.

"For select highways not located through mountain passes and/or high snowfall areas, tire and chain requirements end March 31. These routes are marked with regulatory signs posted on highways throughout the province. We reserve the right to restrict travel at any time of the year depending on road conditions. These signs are enforced by the police, ministry or other enforcement officials. Motorists who are not compliant may be turned away and fined" Drive BC's website warns.
