Letter: Dock management plan will force us to leave our home

'The expenses of surveys and archeologists for our docks will run into tens of thousand dollars. Our small pensions would leave us with little choice but to leave the home we built for our selves on our private property.'

Editor:

We have owned our property on North Lake for 30 years. I built my house, shop and dock from the timber I milled  off of this property. My deed still states water access only. I was told when I purchased, no dock permits were required.

My taxes have tripled in the past three years, our road is not plowed, no garbage pickup or street lights. Actually, nothing in the way of improvements.

And now at the age of 70, we’re retired and are surprised by the dock management plan.

I welcome my neighbours in Sechelt to search my land for artifacts at their expense and keep what is rightfully important to them. I find it odd they are in partnership with the government, and not their neighbours.

The expenses of surveys and archeologists for our docks will run into tens of thousand dollars. Our small pensions would leave us with little choice but to leave the home we built for our selves on our private property.
