The week kicked off with an exciting matchup between the Barons and the Raiders. The Barons faced an early setback when their starting pitcher had to leave the game in the first inning after taking a line drive off the foot. However, Jim Peers stepped in and pitched admirably, helping his team to an 8-5 victory. Wednesday Night Makeup Game: Lon’s Gun Show vs. Bears
The midweek matchup between Lon’s Gun Show and the Bears was a rollercoaster. Nolan Lewarne took the mound for the Gun Show, facing off against Tiffany Baldwin for the Bears. The Gun Show exploded with a ten-run lead in the first inning, appearing to be on their way to an easy win. However, the Bears mounted a remarkable comeback, chipping away in the third and fourth innings and then rallying for ten runs in the sixth to take a 14-12 lead. In the bottom of the sixth, Connor Cross scored for the Gun Show, but a crucial double play by the Bears’ defense halted their momentum. Mike Sopow came in for Lon’s in the seventh, and with Greg Kelly and Taylor Hanchar scoring, the Gun Show secured a dramatic 15-14 victory.
Friday Night Showdown: Lon’s Gun Show vs. Bears
The week concluded with a third face-off between Lon’s Gun Show and the Bears. Mike Sopow pitched for the Gun Show while Randy Younghusband took the mound for the Bears. The Bears’ defense started strong, retiring the first three Gun Show batters, but faltered in the second inning, allowing the Gun Show to capitalize on key errors and score eight runs. Despite impressive defensive highlights, including Bradly Burns’ diving catch in center field and Eli’s over-the-shoulder catch at shortstop, the Bears couldn’t overcome their early mistakes. Bradly Burns and Taylor Hanchar both hit inside-the-park home runs, adding to the week’s tally of five unprecedented inside-the-park home runs. The Gun Show emerged victorious with a 13-2 win.
