Greek travel show World Party came to the Coast to check out the world famous mountain biking scene at Coast Gravity Park.

The popular Greek travel show World Party was at Coast Gravity Park on Nov. 24 filming an episode for their upcoming season.

Sakis Tanimanidis, producer, director and host of World Party, said they wanted to visit the Sechelt bike park because it is considered one of the world’s top destinations for mountain bikers.

And, Tanimanidis added, riding at Coast Gravity was “one of our crew member’s dreams. We brought him all the way from Greece so he can ride with the pros here.”

World Party has two seasons listed on the Internet Movie Database, but it is already one of the most popular TV shows in Greece. It’s a reality style travel show produced primarily between four friends: Tanimanidis, co-host George Mavridis, George Kouros and videographer Theo Plakidis.

These four travel all over the world with a focus on documenting the experience of the traveller instead of doing a more information-based sightseeing show.

“Our motto is – the very famous one – you only live once,” Tanimanidis said. “We try to live by this saying, but in a good sense.”

He explained that many people use this expression – often abbreviated to YOLO – as an excuse to make bad decisions or do stupid things.

“For me it’s the most deep and important expression that a human being should understand,” Tanimanidis said. “The faster you realize that you do only live once, then you will start doing the things you want to do, not the things you think you have to do. [For us] that’s about absorbing as much experience as you can.”

World Party heads to Alaska after filming on the Coast. Tanimanidis said they will be spending a few days with a man who lives mostly in isolation in the Alaskan wilderness. After Alaska they go to Hawaii.
