The Sunshine Coast Fastpitch League has started the season with high excitement and intense competition. The first two games were nail-biters, each decided by just one run, setting the stage for what looks to be a fiercely competitive season.

In a rematch of last season’s finals, the Barons narrowly defeated the Raiders. Bill Stockwell pitched a complete game for the Raiders, showing remarkable endurance and skill. The Barons’ pitching duties were shared between Josh Gray and Jim Peers, who together managed to secure the victory for their team.

The second game of the season saw the Barons face off against Lon’s Gun Show. Once again, Josh Gray and Jim Peers shared the pitching for the Barons, while Mike Sopow took on the full pitching assignment for the Gun Show. The Barons started strong, scoring three runs in the first inning thanks to Jackson’s powerful hit off the fence, and continued to add runs in the second and third innings.

However, Lon’s Gun Show showcased their resilience by battling back. In the top of the sixth inning, Chris Hanchar’s impressive play gave the Gun Show a crucial lead by scoring two runs. The Gun Show then held their ground in the seventh inning, clinching a 6-5 victory and proving their mettle in a closely contested game.

With such thrilling and tightly contested games to start the season, fans can look forward to more exciting matchups as the Sunshine Coast Fastpitch League progresses.
