Opinion: Sunshine Coast, it's time to vote in the People's Choice Awards!

While elections dominate world headlines this week (U.K.! France! U.S.!), we’ve got a ballot that’s far less consequential to the Guardian or New York Times , but quite important to us around here.

While elections dominate world headlines this week (U.K.! France! U.S.!), we’ve got a ballot that’s far less consequential to the Guardian or New York Times, but quite important to us around here.

It’s once again time to vote in the annual Sunshine Coast People’s Choice Awards!

Over the past three years, more than 11,000 votes have been cast with up to 4,000 people voting each year for their favourite businesses. Let’s keep that momentum going and celebrate the local shops and services that keep this Coast economy rocking.

This year, over two weeks in May, you nominated your favourite businesses in 131 categories through our partner, the Sunshine Coast Chamber of Commerce.

Now, it’s time to pick the winners.

Over the next eight weeks, you’ll get to vote for your favourite retailers (July 5 to 18), your favourite health, wellness and lifestyle businesses (July 19 to Aug. 1), your favourite services (Aug. 2 to 15) and your favourite food and drink businesses (Aug. 16 to 29).

Vote at coastreporter.net/peopleschoice.

The finalists and winners of the fourth annual Sunshine Coast People’s Choice Awards will be announced in our Oct. 18 edition. (Coincidentally, one day before another important vote – the B.C. election!)

Happy voting!
