Editor:
In light of the recent move from the U.S. administration to impose sweeping tariffs, and the existential threat to the global economy, now is a time, more than ever before, where Canadians of all backgrounds and cultures are working together to buy Canadian, and boycott products from our Southern neighbours (I am choosing to call them Southern Canadians, formerly known as Americans!).
I would imagine that the Coast Reporter, with its locally focused news, would want to look at and highlight businesses here on the coast that are locally owned and operated, buy and sell local products, and focus on the community at large.
I own Home on the Range Organics, in Gibsons, and have 100 per cent Canadian products, and over 75 per cent of my products come from within 100 miles of the store, so we are hyper local! We live and work here on the Coast, and as a chef I am always looking for more products that we can source right here on the Coast. Community is everything, and in this global environment, we should be shouting that from the rooftops and ensuring our community is supporting businesses that share this worldview.
Perhaps a piece on this with a long list of all the locally owned companies by sector, so that your readers can make the educated choice they are all looking to make in these trying times.
Sincerely,
Allen Ingram, Gibsons
