Lily Riggs placed in the top eight in the province for the third year in a row.

Lily Riggs of Gibsons represented Elphinstone Secondary and the Sunshine Coast last weekend at the BC High School Provincial Track and Field Championships in Langley.

Lily rose to the occasion and had three personal bests, took sixth in javelin, sixth in discus, and seventh place in hammer throw. Lily has competed at the Provincials for the past five years and placed in the top eight in the province for the past three years.

She also took first place in all three of her events in the North Shore Zone Finals in April and has been a top performer on the North Shore for the past five years. This year is her swan song as she graduates from Grade 12. Congratulations, Lily!

Her coach, Tom Daniels, now retired from his teaching position at Elphinstone Secondary, committed to seeing Lily through to the end of her high school throwing career. He is patient and calm, the perfect coach for Lily.

“Thank you for everything, Tom,” Lily said.
