Environment Canada has issued a wind weather warning for the areas of Gibsons to Earls Cove and Saltery Bay to Powell River.

Strong southeast winds gusting from 70 to 90 km per hour are anticipated through the morning hours of June 4 as a frontal system crosses the south coast of B.C.

A rainfall warning has been posted for the Howe Sound region for the morning hours with downfalls of 40 to 50 millimetres anticipated, which could result in localized flooding.

Weatherhood’s mapping shows those winds starting to wind down over the coming days. In its top five ratings over the past day, Gibsons and Halfmoon Bay are the top two reporting stations for June 3. At that point the gusts were a bit lower in the 23 to 28 km per hour range.
