Sunshine Coast RCMP responded to multiple calls of mischief in the early morning hours of Nov. 11.
The calls included mail bozes that had been kicked over, an outhouse that had been overturned and a soccer net which had been badly damaged. The majority of the damage occurred in Piccadilly Park and in and around the soccer field.

Church theft
On Sunday, Nov. 15, a male entered the St. Mary's Parish on Gibsons Way and was seated in a pew as though he was taking part in the service.
The male changed seats a few times during the service and looked to be changing seats again, but then grabbed an elderly woman's purse off a back table and left.
The suspect is described as unkempt, approximately 50 years old 5-3, slim build with salt and pepper hair. The suspect was wearing dark pants, a black ski jacket with white piping and was carrying a dark backpack. The male was last scene leaving the church on foot.

A member was called to a single-vehicle incident in the 13000 block of Sunshine Coast Highway. The uninjured driver advised that he came around a corner while travelling southbound and the rear tires began to slip. The driver lost control and skidded into a ditch. The vehicle was heavily damaged and required towing.
A witness reported a vehicle going into the ditch in the 1400 block of Sunshine Coast Highway. A member arrived on scene and spoke with the uninjured driver who advised he had been tuning his radio while driving and when he looked up, realized that traffic was stopped. The driver swerved to avoid a collision and struck a guard post before ending up in the ditch. The driver was issued a violation ticket for driving without consideration.
Police attended to a residence in the 3500 block of Sunshine Coast Highway about an injured deer. The deer had been struck by a vehicle, but the vehicle fled before any information could be obtained. The deer was suffering traumatic injuries and had to be put down on scene.
Police responded to a vehicle roll-over in the 7700 block of Sunshine Coast Highway. Paramedics were already on scene dealing with the injured driver. Evidence at the scene suggested alcohol was a factor. The vehicle was impounded and the file is still under investigation.
Four male youths were witnessed "mooning" people at an address in the 5700 block of Shorncliffe Avenue. The males fled before their identities could be verified. This indecent act may result in a ban from the property should the males return.
On Nov. 9, a staff member at a business in the 800 block of Gibsons Way attempted to detain a suspected shoplifter from leaving the store, however the suspect refused to cooperate. The staffer followed the male out of the store and into the parking lot where the suspect dropped the stolen item and fled the scene on foot.
