Tina Perreault has been named as chief administrative officer at the SCRD.

Five months after announcing Dean McKinley's exit, the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) has appointed its new permanent chief administrative officer (CAO) –– but she's not new to the job.

After an extensive search, which attracted national and international candidates, the SCRD Board appointed Tina Perreault as CAO, the regional district announced Feb. 4. Perreault has served as interim CAO since last May, when McKinley initially went on leave.

Perreault has been with the SCRD’s finance division since 2008, working up through many roles to becoming chief financial officer in 2011, and general manager of corporate services in 2016.

“We had over 40 candidates for this highly sought-after position and, after two rounds of interviews with candidates, Tina was the unanimous choice for the SCRD Board,” SCRD board chair Alton Toth said in a news release. “As a long-time member of our community, Tina knows the challenges and opportunities that exist within our region and we are confident that under Tina’s leadership, the SCRD can continue to grow and thrive.”

Perreault says she is honoured to lead such a committed group and looks forward to the work they’ll accomplish together.

“Having raised my family on the Coast and called this community home for nearly 20 years, I hold a deep connection to this place and the vital work being done every day to deliver essential services,” Perreault said in the release. “While we face significant challenges ahead, I am confident in the dedication and talent of the SCRD team.”
