Two people were airlifted to hospital in Vancouver after a serious accident in Halfmoon Bay last Thursday.On Sept. 29 around 6 p.m., a three-vehicle accident occurred on Hwy. 101 just south of Tapp Road in Halfmoon Bay.According to an RCMP press release, a northbound vehicle lost control on a curve and veered off the highway down an embankment on the opposite side of the road, narrowly missing a five-ton truck that was travelling southbound. The driver of the truck pulled off the road to render assistance to the other driver. Several minutes later a second northbound vehicle lost control in the same curve and slid into the parked truck.HMB fire department used the Jaws of Life to extricate the female driver of the first vehicle who was airlifted from the scene to Vancouver with serious injuries.The driver of the second vehicle was transported to St. Mary's Hospital where she was later airlifted to Vancouver with non-life threatening injuries.Police are reminding drivers to use caution as the winter months approach and road conditions are changing.
