Someone stole 400 doughnuts on the Sunshine Coast: Police report

Fraud, impaired driving, and multiple pairs of sunglasses stolen from Gibsons: Police briefs for the week of May 31 to June 6.

Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following May 31 to June 6.

  • On May 31, a suspect gained entry to a business in the 5600 block of Sunshine Coast Hwy, Sechelt, and stole approximately 400 donuts. The suspect was captured on security camera. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2022-3719.
  • Early on June 1, a suspect gained entry to a business in the 1100 block of Sunshine Coast Hwy, Gibsons, and stole multiple pairs of sunglasses. The suspect was captured on security camera and file is still under investigation. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2022-3663.
  • On June 6, a suspect gained entry to a business in the 5600 block of Cowrie St, Sechelt, and stole a hanging mirror, ceramic dog, and a neon open sign. The suspect was captured on security camera and file is still under investigation. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2022-3786.
  • On June 2, a shoplifter was reported at a business in the 900 block of Gibsons Way, Gibsons. The shoplifter stole a green camouflage jacket with an orange zipper. An employee was able to locate the individual and recover the item prior to police locating the suspect.

Impaired driving

  • On June 1, at 10:30 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of a possible impaired driver who displayed difficulty maintaining lanes and consistent speed in the 5500 block of Sunshine Coast Highway, Sechelt. Police noted the driver was exhibiting signs of intoxication and gave him a roadside alcohol screening test. After two fail results, the driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. The matter has been referred to RoadSafetyBC.

Fraud

  • On June 5, police received a report of a theft from vehicle in the 5600 block Andres Road, Sechelt. The individual reported that their wallet was taken including a driver’s licence, debit card and credit card. The Coast resident quickly acted to notify Equifax and Transunion. Police determined that the credit card was used locally and upon further review of surveillance arrested an individual. Police remind the public to remove any valuables from the vehicle to deter any opportunistic thieves.

Found Property

  • On June 2, a wallet located in the 5600 block of Cowrie St, Sechelt, was turned in. Owner may claim within 90 days with detailed description. Please reference police file 2022-3700.
