Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for the week of Jan. 3 to Jan. 10.

Collision

On Jan. 6, police attended a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Redrooffs Road and Kenyon Road after one vehicle began to slide on ice, resulting in crossing the centre line and being struck by an oncoming vehicle. Members blocked Redrooffs Road near the collision in both directions until the vehicle was able to be towed from scene when conditions improved. The matter has been referred to ICBC.

On Jan. 5, a single vehicle had driven into and was stuck in Chapman Creek in the 4400 block of Sunshine Coast Highway, Sechelt. The driver had no injuries but exhibited signs of impairment. The driver was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

On Jan. 6, police attended a single-vehicle rollover that ended in the ditch near the intersection of Sunshine Coast Highway and Flume Road, Roberts Creek. The vehicle engine was cold and while RCMP were on-scene, the driver arrived and updated that earlier that day he hit a patch of ice and drove off the road into the ditch. Towing services were already notified by driver. Referred to ICBC.

Lost hiker

On Jan. 5, RCMP received a 911 hang up that a hiker was stuck on the white trail off of Sprockids park, Gibsons. Local Search and Rescue were called to assist in locating the hiker. RCMP located the uninjured but cold hiker and assisted them down the trail before being cleared by Emergency Health Services.
