Pender Harbour-Egmont Highlights: SCCSS offering Fresh Food Market on Thursdays

Come to the open house and BBQ this Sunday, June 30, hosted by the Pender Harbour  Living Heritage Society as they celebrate the 10th anniversary of the completion of the restoration and renovations to the historic Irvines Landing school house, the Sarah Wray Hall. They, along with a legion of volunteers, completed this huge undertaking in 2014. Drop by June 30 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to peruse historic displays and scrapbooks. This year’s “Blue Heron” canoe, the one you can win, will be on display. Visit the boat building workshop where all the magic happens. Enjoy the BBQ. Society directors will be on hand to answer any of your history questions. Sarah Wray Hall, 4334 Irvines Landing Road, Garden Bay.  

Egmont Heritage Centre grand reopening will be three days full of festivities June 28, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., June 29 and 30, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Live music, food trucks and vendors featuring local art. The museum is a spectacular full of historical treasure. 

Wonderful news from the Sunshine Coast Community Services and friends, they are offering a Fresh Food Market every Thursday at the Community School 10 a.m. to noon. Locally grown produce at low prices and “pay what you can.”

Kennith Melliquist will once again generously host a live music concert this summer from his dock on Gunboat Bay on Saturday, Aug.10, starting at 5 p.m. This has become an annual event, a highlight of the summer season in Pender Harbour as the audience enjoys great music while on the water in their boats.
