Next Saturday, July 29, will be a fantastic one with two outstanding events. Royal Canadian Legion Branch #112 annual golf tournament, starting at 2 p.m. at the Pender Harbour Golf Club. The playing format is a modified Texas Scramble. Entries are $60 per person which includes golf, prizes appies and, dinner. Register at the Legion.
‘Blues Concert in Gunboat Bay’ with Peter Van Deursen and his band, generously hosted by the Mellquist family from their dock, 4 p.m. start (rain or shine). Enjoy this spectacular outdoor concert from your boat at anchor or “dock on the bay.” You are invited to come and enjoy and please be responsible.
Pender Harbour Days Wooden Boat Festival, Aug. 4 to 6 at Millennium Park, will celebrate the Harbour’s maritime heritage. Festivities begin Friday evening with a boat parade, and a special Coffee House at the School of Music featuring the Pender Harbour Choir. Over the weekend, visit the historic working wooden boats from around the B.C. Coast moored at the dock. View small historic wooden boats and equipment from the Pender Harbour Living Heritage Society’s collection. There will be interactive displays and talks, films, theatre, vendors, food, seafood draws, free wooden boat building and activities for the kids. The dinner dance at the Legion Saturday night will feature the very popular Blue Western. Sunday morning, shop the Marine Tailgate Sale. Make sure to buy your lucky raffle tickets as Sunday afternoon you just might win a Ken Walters’ painting and the beautiful handcrafted PHLHS wooden canoe.
