May 26, 1934 - May 26, 2023
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my father, Tony Spelay.
Tony was predeceased by his parents and son Robert. He is survived by his son Ray Spelay, four grandchildren and brother Bill Spelay and his wife Katie Spelay and sister Anita Axelson.
Tony and wife Ruth settled in Coquitlam, where they made many lasting friendships. After retirement in 1989, they built a home in Gibsons, where they both enjoyed fishing, crabbing and pawning. Tony worked for Canada Safeway as a manager for most of his career, where he made many friends with the staff and customers. They were longtime members of the Legion where the “meat draw” was a big day.
Tony spent many months fighting with a worn out heart, which he eventually lost. He left us quietly on his 89th birthday and his 65th wedding anniversary. Remember Tony as the talker, always walking around the neighbourhood. I could not have asked for better parents; they are back together now.
