The Legion has an action plan under way to provide an emergency help centre for disasters and prolonged power outages. First on the list is to purchase and install a generator at a cost of $75,000. Grant applications have been submitted, proceeds from December’s highly successful events have been contributed and donations are coming in from residents. The Legion’s “go to centre” will help all of us in times of dire conditions. You can donate to the generator fund by making your cheque payable to Pender Harbour Community Improvement Fund and drop it off at The Legion.

In many New Year’s greetings “kindness” has been the heart of the message. Kindness is a magic word free for all to use. Kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. Kindness can be your superpower. An act of kindness is never wasted and can be life enhancing, life changing. The one giving and the one receiving both win.
