Harbour-Egmont Highlights: Lafayette String Quartet playing Fall Chamber Music Weekend

Tonight, Friday, Oct. 14, treat yourself to an evening of fine local live music at the School of Music Coffee House with a trio of excellent performers: Tropher Trick, Sean Peers, and George Connell with guest Garth Bowen. Suggested minimum donation $10 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m. Music at 7:30 p.m. 

Provisions Bistro at the Pender Harbour Golf Club has live music each weekend. Friday nights ‘Soleil’ 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday night Eddy Edrik, 5 to 8 p.m. and Sunday this week Half Cut and The Slackers, 2 to 5 p.m. Come out for good food, good times, and great live music.

A week away is the Fall Chamber Music Weekend, October 22-23 starring James Campbell and the Lafayette String Quartet. Recently, after 40 years of teaching and working together, members of the Lafayette announced that they will bring their internationally respected collaboration to a close in 2023. The Art Crawl, just a week away. Oct. 21, 22 and 23, our lovely treasure, The Harbour Gallery will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., all three days. New work is arriving daily for this special event. A must see. Do stop by and enjoy, and take home a masterpiece?

Tuesday, Oct. 25, Women’s Connection is all about “Remembering Queen Elizabeth II & High Tea.”  Come share your stories about Her Majesty in Britain and during her many trips to Canada. There will be a quiz and followed by High Tea. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Gathering begins at 10 a.m. New drop-in fee $4. Yearly membership $15. Masks are optional. If you are unwell, please do not attend for the safety of everyone.

The Pender Harbour Brownies are doing their part for our food bank, Wednesday, Oct. 26, 3 to 4 p.m. outside the IGA collecting donations. Please, do your part and donate to this very good cause.

The 12th Annual Halloween Howl Dance and Costume Extravaganza happens Saturday, Oct. 29 with the fantastic Steve Hinton Band and special guest Peter Van Duersen at the Pender Harbour Community Hall. Prizes for the best costumes. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Music at 8 p.m. Tickets on sale now at Earthfair Store downtown Madeira Park 604-883-9006, earthfair.ca, open Monday through Saturday, also Strait Music, Sechelt and online at www.phblues.ca.

Yes, Virginia there will be a Christmas Fair in the Harbour. Serendipity has handed over the annual event to the Pender Harbour Community School who will now host this wonderful event Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Hall. Thanks to Patti Soos, ace event coordinator.
