The second annual Winterfest and 59th Pender Harbour Boat Parade tomorrow, 3 to 7 p.m. at Millenium Park, will be a Christmas extravaganza for all to enjoy, with Santa’s Workshop, the Pender Harbour Choir carolling, vendors, food and warm drinks. The Harbour Gallery will be open from 3 to 7 p.m. with a beautiful offering of gifts, including cards and masterpieces of all sizes and mediums created by our talented local artists.
Egmont’s favourite annual community potluck Christmas dinner is Friday, Dec. 22 at 6 p.m. Local musician Matt Richards will be performing songs of the season. There will be a “special guest.” If you are attending with children 12 and younger from outside of the community, please bring a wrapped gift with their name on it. Tree and hall decorating will happen Tuesday Dec. 19 around 5 p.m. if you would like to join in.
At this time of the year, remember to think of those not so fortunate. Donate to our local food bank and Spreading Kindness Fundraiser that assists local youth and families in need through the Pender Harbour Community School Youth and Families Support Program. Funds are used to purchase essential supplies, food security support and specific needs and traditional Christmas items. Going forward, looking to the future, safety is all too often on our minds. The Legion has stepped up with a plan to provide an emergency help centre for disasters and prolonged power outages. First on the list is to purchase and install a generator. Cost to do so is $75,000. The Generator Fundraiser is active, with grant applications submitted, donations from residents and proceeds from events. The Legion’s go-to centre will help all of us in times of dire conditions. You can donate to the Generator Fund. Make your cheque payable to Pender Harbour Community Improvement Fund and drop it off at the Legion. Tax receipt for 2023 will be issued.
Enjoy the fine festivities everyone!
