Kisses and Kicks: Kisses for labyrinth repainters, kicks for putting dogs in grocery carts

Here are the good deeds (and not so good deeds) that happened in our Coast community this week!
Kisses & Kicks
Kisses & Kicks

Here are your kicks and kisses for the week of August 25!

Kisses to the community for supporting the 101st Central Canada Girl Guide trip unit fundraising for their trip to Ontario and Quebec.

Kicks to an economy that sells a small bag of chips for $2.19! The end is nigh!

Big kisses to the people who repainted the labyrinth at St Hilda’s Church. You did a fabulous job.

Massive smoochy kisses to everyone who organized and painted the mandala – and to the hundreds of painters who filled in the details.

Kisses to Mystic Mountain RV for quickly coming and repairing my RV while I was visiting the Sunshine Coast.

Huge kisses to Sheri who drove the long term care residents in the Totem/Shorncliffe bus in the Canada Day Parade. They all had fun waving and later enjoyed lunch at the pub.

Kisses to Steve and the staff at Wilson Creek IGA. After a mishap with a milk bottle, my milk was replaced, and a new grocery bag provided with a smile. Kindness and customer service are much appreciated.

Devon (a little help from his friend Oliver) tended to a young child whose Mom was lost at Pender Harbour Days at Madeira Park Docks, (August 5), got a T-Shirt and something to drink for them on this very hot day... until Mom returned!

Kisses to the lovely audience who came out to the Rockwood Pavilion and supported the university students at their Musical Evening on Aug. 2 and 3!  We loved performing for you!

Kisses to the secret angel on Franklin Road, Gibsons, for another free standing handmade bench for the walkers who enjoy a short rest!  What a wonderful neighbourhood!

Kisses and many thanks to the young man who rescued dad from the blackberry bush and hornets on Cowrie Street on the second.

Kisses to the CAT backhoe operator at the Gibsons garden refuse site on Aug 8. Just amazing how efficiently and quickly he can clear the bins!

Kisses to the fastest and kindest pharmacy and drugstore team in Sechelt, the IDA Drugstore folks! Lightning-fast, patient, down-to-earth, and big-hearted, too!

Kicks to the people who think their pet can go into grocery stores. Therapy dogs are not service dogs. Service dogs are specially trained to perform specific tasks to help a person who has a disability. It is unethical to pass off a therapy dog as a service dog. A service dog would never be in a shopping cart.

Kicks to the participants of the Sleepy Hollow Road Run who left burnouts on our roads. Love the event but not your behaviour.

Kisses on wheels to Yvonne Mounsey for mentioning in her Gumboot Nation Column that bicycle bells should be mandatory.

Kicks to the local who sold us a ‘reliable’ car. Kisses to Todd of Walt’s towing and Park garage for sorting us out.

Kisses to the all the Hot Rods and the Burn Outs. Nothing like a little burning rubber to make the crowd happy! Thanks!

A boatload of hugs and kisses for John and Lynn for helping us send our father off on his final voyage.

Huge kicks to whoever stole the custom-made address signs off a property on Shaw Road. Receptive losses sting. Return what’s taken.

Kicks to vehicle drivers who fail to stop at the stop sign at the end of Cypress Way in Woodcreek Park.

Kisses to all the volunteers who spend countless hours trimming, clearing and maintaining trails—horse riders, hikers, dirt and mountain bikers alike who take care of our trails.

Kisses to everyone who waited patiently in their cars without honking at the junction of Payne Road and IGA on Aug. 15 while I corralled a confused mouse on the road. Sadly, the little guy did not survive the trip to Gibsons Wildlife Rehab.

Kisses to Ann Lynn Flowers for the beautiful job done on the arrangement in memory of Myrtle Braun.  Thank you so much!  From Jay and Marilyn

Kicks after kicks for leaving a lit cigarette to burn on the south end of Field Road by trees and bush. How can anyone really be this vacant! Careless!  Selfish!

Kisses to Marlowe who is leaving Boutique in the Creek for new pastures - we wish her all the best - please stop in to say goodbye!

Kicks to all of the people and especially the parents with kids along the Rod Run who were encouraging drivers to do burnouts. One wrong move could injure one or multiple people. All registered participants have to sign a rules form which includes no burnouts.

Kisses to the green thumbs of Sechelt’s curbside boxes and incredible hanging baskets, they must weigh a ton of sheer beauty. What a harbinger of hope!

Kicks to whoever dumped the head and guts of a large animal on the trail up Day Road. Aside from the smell, when the predators and scavengers get a whiff, we will all be in danger!

Kisses to all who have the decency to leave the beauty of the outdoors natural as they find it.
