Being part of BC Conservative candidate Chris Moore’s campaign team, it will come as no surprise that I am very disappointed at the outcome of the election, not just for Chris but for the Coast! I am, however, thankful that we live in a democratic society where we can exercise our free will.

Randene Neill will be representing all of us now and her party will be responsible for the success, or failures, of the Coast in the months/years ahead.

I am very interested in a number of the NDP’s promises.

- I do not have a doctor on the Coast and look forward to benefiting from accessible and timely health care.

- I am looking forward to cheaper gas with the cutting of the carbon tax.

- I know of a family who would love to own a home and will want to participate in the “Opening Doors to Home Ownership Plan” where Randene’s party will finance 40 per cent of the purchase price of a home for them.

- I have a dear friend in his 90s who now lives amidst tent cities and street crime. He is anxious to see safe housing for those in need and see criminals off the street, restoring it to the safe community it once was.

- I am interested in hearing about the 300,000 middle class houses that the NDP has promised to build in the next 10 years. We know where the money will come from to build these houses (our province’s debt will keep increasing) but where are they going to build these homes, will there be any on the Coast?

Loving our community as I do, I expect to see these promises kept and hope that they weren’t just said as a bid to get re-elected.
