Your piece about the passing of former Gibsons mayor Barry Janyk brought to mind a tale he liked to tell about an offer he made to then-MLA Harold Long to recognize Long’s role in securing funding for the Town’s wastewater treatment plant by naming the plant after him. Of course I don’t know whether Long would have remembered this the same way but Janyk did a nice impression of an initially sunny reaction gradually clouding over. He did have a way with a story.
