If you are unable to donate during our operating hours, please contact the store for options or consider donating to another worthy organization.

Items left at the SCHA thrift store outside of store hours end up being spread around, damaged or broken.

Editor:

The following is an open letter to the community.

The Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary would like to express our gratitude for your continued support and generous donations to the SCHA Thrift Store on Cowrie Street in Sechelt this year. We would also like to address a concern regarding items being left outside our back doors while we are closed.

We want to remind everyone that we are open for donations seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Unfortunately, we have been encountering issues with items being left at the back doors outside of these hours. As a result, these items often end up scattered across the parking lot, damaged or broken and exposed to the weather. This makes it impossible for us to resell them. Additionally, the cost of cleaning up and disposing of these items eats into the funds that the SCHA can allocate towards its healthcare initiatives in the community.

If you are unable to donate during our operating hours, please contact the store for options or consider donating to another worthy organization.

Please note that the thrift store will be closed for the winter break, from Dec. 19 until Jan. 1. We kindly ask that you hold on to your donations during this time, as we will not have any volunteers available to accept them.

Thank you once again for your support and understanding.
