The Sechelt Public Library has appointed an interim director following the departure of chief librarian Elle Archibald at the end of February.
Leianne Emery, a Sechelt resident, “will ensure a smooth transition as the search continues for a new chief librarian,” the Sechelt Public Library Board said in a release issued March 2.
According to the release, Emery is a corporate administration and development professional with over 20 years of experience in the development, administration and management of contracts, programs, budgets, logistics, transportation, media, marketing and investor and corporate relations. She was educated at Trinity Western University and the British Columbia Institute of Technology. She has worked in a wide variety of sectors including mining, agriculture, aviation, real estate development and NATO operations abroad.
“Joining us at a time when, thanks to the vision and support of our library funders, a new era of funding is in place, Emery will continue to ensure that the operations, services and programs of the library are well managed,” the library board said.
Archibald was hired as chief librarian in July 2018 after a nationwide search, having previously worked at the Burlington Public Library in Ontario. She replaced Margaret Hodgins, who resigned after four years in the position.
