The District of Sechelt is undergoing engagement with the community to help build an overall communications strategy for the municipality.

The strategy aims at improving two-way communication and collaboration between residents and the municipality.

“We are looking at ways to improve communications and build trust, transparency and strong relationships with residents,” chief administrative officer Andrew Yeates said in a news release. “It’s really about finding out which topics and information residents would like to hear about, how they want to receive the information and how they can communicate back.”

Over the next month, residents will be invited to fill out a survey, say hello at pop-up events and share their thoughts and ideas online at yoursaysechelt.ca.

“Communication is fundamental to open and transparent governance,” says Lindsay Vickers, manager of communications for the district. “We recognize the growing demand for two-way communication, particularly as it pertains to listening to citizens and gathering feedback. We want to reach people where they are.”

Sechelt residents are encouraged to go online to yoursaysechelt.ca to fill out the survey, which is open until Dec. 6.
