‘Danger’ Dane Hanna has clinched his second victory in as many years at the 18th annual Attack of Danger Bay, the longboarding race and festival that draws thousands of spectators and international talent to Pender Harbour on the May Day long weekend.
In second place was Tim Del of the U.S. Max Capps, also American, placed third, and Kyle Martin of Chilliwack came in fourth.
Local longboarder Scott 'Scoot' Smith was the top finisher in the Dirty Thirties category, for more mature longboarders.
“It was cool that Dane got back to back wins,” said Smith of Hanna’s accomplishment.
Smith, who founded Team Green, is a generation ahead of Hanna, who races with Pender Harbour’s other group, Team Irene.
“He’s getting a lot better, getting more experience, starting to beat these guys on a consistent basis,” Smith said.
Hanna is one of the top Canadian longboarders and is expected to compete at this year’s World Roller Games in Barcelona, Spain.
