A wildfire north of Piper Point on Sechelt Inlet has been "putting out a ton of smoke" but is still under control the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) said Monday.
Fire V53076 is now 0.6 hectares and BCWS has another initial attack crew back there Monday to "keep an eye on things" and put out any hot spots, a BCWS spokesperson told Coast Reporter Monday morning. Bucketing is also continuing.
This fire is one of several sparked last week following lightning storms. A fire just outside West Sechelt discovered Aug. 30 was declared out Aug. 31.
There are three fires currently burning in the Lower Sunshine Coast area, including the one by Piper Point. Another, by Clowhom Lake, is 1.5 hectares and being monitored. Fire V53097 is near Vancouver Bay, between Prince of Wales Reach and Princess Royal Reach.
