Across the Coast Legions are hosting in-person Remembrance Day ceremonies:
In Roberts Creek
“The Roberts Creek Legion, Branch 219, is pleased to invite the community to attend their Remembrance Day Ceremony in-person and observe a moment of silence together on November 11. The Remembrance Day Ceremony marks the sacrifice of those who have fallen in service of their country and acknowledges the courage of those who continue to serve. The general assembly is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. on the front lawn at 3064 Lower Road. Following the ceremony, the branch will open their doors to veterans and the community for a hot lunch.”
In Sechelt
“The Sechelt Legion is proud to lead the Remembrance Day parade and conduct the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Legion’s cenotaph on Cowrie street. All First Responder organizations as well as Community Service Groups and youth groups from Wilson Creek through Halfmoon Bay are welcome to join in the parade. We will muster in the Legion parking lot no later than 1015 AM and will step off at 1045. Highway 101 will be closed between 1030 and noon between Mermaid and Inlet Avenue, so drivers please plan your route accordingly and be respectful of the traffic control personnel and the parade. Our kitchen and lounge will be open following the ceremony and we will have live entertainment, featuring Joanne Chiasson, the Coast Fiddlers and the cast from Shboom.”
In Pender Harbour
The Remembrance Day procession will start at 10:30 a.m. from the Pender Harbour Music School. The outdoor service starts at 10:45 a.m. and is open to all. The ceremony is followed by refreshments at the Legion.
And in Gibsons
The ceremony will start outside of the Legion at 10:45 a.m., followed by presentations in the hall. The Legion Lounge opens at 1 p.m. with entertainment between 3 and 6 p.m. All are welcome.
