Vandals damaged public washrooms located in the 5700 block of Dolphin Street sometime on April 5. Soap dispensers and toilet roll holders were either removed or destroyed and a door was kicked in. This kind of senseless mischief has been a recurring problem in the area. Anyone with any information about the suspects is asked to contact RCMP at 604-885-2266, reference file 10-2357.

On April 6, a thief stole a purse from the front seat of an unlocked vehicle parked in the 900 block of Gibsons Way. The owner of the purse advised only leaving the unlocked vehicle for 10 to 15 minutes, but police remind everyone that it takes mere seconds for an opportunistic thief to strike, so please don't leave valuables in plain sight and remember to lock your vehicles.

A homeowner in the 700 block of Tricklebrook Way was awakened early in the morning of April 7 by noises in his backyard and was surprised to find four strangers in his hot tub. The owner confronted the foursome who were apologetic and left immediately.

After several complaints from Garden Bay, Halfmoon Bay and Sechelt about the same possibly impaired driver, police located the suspect driver and vehicle on Redrooffs Road. Police determined the driver was intoxicated and impaired by drug use. The vehicle was impounded and the driver's licence was also seized. The driver's passenger was found to be heavily intoxicated also and was arrested and detained in cells until sober.

A report of a possibly impaired driver was made from an address in the 900 block of Gibsons Way after the suspect got into a vehicle and drove away. The witness provided a licence plate, description, and direction of travel. Police located and pulled the vehicle over and determined the driver was impaired. The driver was given a 24-hour driving suspension and his vehicle was towed.

A resident in the 500 block of South Fletcher Road called in a possible prowler after seeing someone dressed in dark clothing moving around outside the premises. When police attended, they located a male dressed in black who was working on the building. He explained he'd been hired to do some work to the property and was only able to do it during the evening. This was confirmed with the resident who advised due to the darkness, she had been unable to recognize the male.

A cyclist riding on Highway 101 near West Reed Road collided into the rear bumper of a parked car and was thrown into the rear windshield. Witnesses advise the cyclist was travelling at a relatively high speed and did not appear to see the parked vehicle. The cyclist sustained minor injuries and the vehicle's rear windshield was smashed. The matter has been referred to ICBC.

Around midnight on April 11, a resident in the 700 block of Cascade Crest. heard her car door slam and looked out in time to see several young males inside her vehicle. The resident yelled at the youth who fled on foot. The vehicle, which had been left unlocked by the owner, sustained no damage, but a kite and some candy was stolen.
