David Lindley must love us! He's coming back to the Sunshine Coast for the third time, to dazzle us with his musical virtuosity and colourful wardrobe. But this time, he's coming alone, for an evening at The Club on Thursday, July 28.
An evening with Lindley is guaranteed to be entertaining and even enlightening. Lindley's wicked sense of humour is expressed in the between-the-tunes chatter, so listen carefully if you can hear above the crowded sell-out audience.
Here's a man who has spent his life playing music, all kinds of music, from folk to blues to reggae and combinations thereof, on a variety of stringed instruments that come from all corners of the globe. He was well known as Jackson Browne's sidekick for many years. He led his own band, El Rayo-X, which brought a heavy reggae influence to American roots and world beat music. He's toured the world many times and produced countless albums, collaborating with the likes of Ry Cooder, John Prine, Rod Stewart and Bob Dylan. And he's coming back here, to the Sunshine Coast, just to see us.
If you've never seen or heard Lindley, now's your chance to experience authentic world beat from the man who quite possibly started the ball rolling.
Be at The Club on Thursday, July 28, at 8 p.m. for an evening with David Lindley. Tickets are $25 and available at WindSong Gallery, Coast Books and the Roberts Creek Health Food Store.
This concert is sponsored by Magic Sound Electronics and brought to you by the Sunshine Coast Live Music Society, a registered, non-profit, volunteer-run society dedicated to bringing all styles of music to the Sunshine Coast.
