A few short days after the property tax deadline (July 2), the Town of Gibsons will have a new staffer looking after its finances.
Smithers transplant William Wallace, CPA, starts as Gibsons' director of finance on July 8, stepping into Lorraine Coughlin's shoes as the latter retires.
Wallace was director of finance in Smithers and Huston and chief financial officer in Williams Lake. His experience includes senior finance positions at Crown corporations.
“We look forward to welcoming William as our new Director of Finance,” says Emanuel Machado, Gibsons chief administrative officer in a press release. “William’s comprehensive experience is sure to make him a great addition to our team, and I am very much looking forward to working with him.”
The town thanked Coughlin, who had been set to retire last fall but after a staffing hiccup, returned for one last budget season.
"Lorraine’s tremendous dedication and commitment have been invaluable to our organization, and we wish her all the best in her retirement. We are deeply grateful for her continued support during the transition period," said the press release.
