He’s here!
On Jan. 2, Sechelt | shíshálh Hospital recorded its first birth of 2025 at 12:52 p.m., weighing in at 2.7 kilos or 5.95 lbs.
Baby Macklin Peers entered this world to parents Courtney Dionne and Connor Peers of ts'ukw'um (Wilson Creek).
Baby Macklin represents the third generation of the Peers family born on the Sunshine Coast, and is Courtney and Connor’s first baby. Bearing two middle names in honour of an uncle and both grandfathers, he joins a large extended family and has already enjoyed many visitors at just two-days old.
Mom and Dad were both quick to thank the team in the maternity department at Sechelt | shíshálh Hospital.
“The doctor and nurses were absolutely unbelievable, just amazing,” Courtney said in a press release, with Connor adding, “I think I want to go and buy Dr. Bryson flowers.”
As the “New Year’s Baby of 2025,” Baby Macklin represents not only the start of the new year and new beginnings, but the start of a new family and the first “Generation Beta” baby born in Sechelt.
(Generation Beta or “Gen Beta” for short, are children born from 2025 to 2039, to young millennials and older Gen Zs.)
