Sunshine Coast RCMP are investigating three separate incidents that occurred last month –– a stabbing, a shooting and a vehicle crash –– which they believe are related.
On Dec. 20, at approximately 12:40 a.m., Sunshine Coast RCMP responded a report of a man who had been stabbed in the 12800 block of Sunshine Coast Highway (near the Cecil Hill/Narrows Road area of Pender Harbour). Two male suspects fled the area in a vehicle prior to RCMP attending, said a Jan. 13 press release. A local man was air lifted to a Lower Mainland hospital with serious injuries but he has since been released, said the release.
Just under a day later, Dec. 20 at approximately 11 p.m., RCMP responded to a report of a man shot in the Rondeview area of Francis Peninsula Road in Madeira Park, said the press release. Two male suspects fled the area in a vehicle prior to RCMP attending. A visiting man suffered a non-lethal gunshot wound and is recovering.
Immediately following the shooting, sometime between 11:30 p.m. and 1 a.m., (late Dec. 20 or early Dec. 21) a vehicle crashed into a ditch on Eureka Place near Redrooffs Road in Halfmoon Bay. This vehicle is suspected to have been involved in the earlier reported shooting, said the release.
Police do not believe the general public is at risk, said the release. These incidents are believed related and not random in nature.
