The Sunshine Coast Regional District is changing up its provider.

A brief from the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) Oct. 27 board meeting

As a call for bids to become the SCRD cellphone service provider brought in one compliant bid, the board authorized a switch to Rogers Communications when its contract with existing supplier Telus ends in December. The new three-year cell service deal will cost $240,000 plus GST.

The contract terms include a refresh of cellular devices, management of cellular plans, technical and administrative support. The agreement also allows for the addition of one new line every two months over the course of the contract.

In response to an SCRD board question Oct. 27 regarding Rogers’ system cell coverage throughout the Coast, Treasurer Tina Perreault noted that the connectivity had been tested and confirmed that it meets the regional district’s needs.
