A brief from the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) Oct. 27 board meeting.
Addressing problems with the soil beneath the treatment plant building at the Church Road well field and the project’s extended timeline will add another $481,041 to its price tag.
With the Sunshine Coast Regional District Board's approval Oct. 27, that brings the amended project costs to $9.27 million: $9 million to come from long-term borrowing and $270,000 from capital reserves.
The added funds will pay for $306,722 in additional costs for the project’s contract administrator, Associated Engineering and $100,000 for the primary contractor Maycon Construction. Also covered will be GST on both increased amounts as well as added contingency cost allowances.
In debate on the matter at the board meeting, Sechelt area director Alton Toth noted the change would increase Associated Engineering’s contract by almost 30 per cent over the amount awarded in January of this year.
Infrastructure services manager Remko Rosenboom noted that change would cover services up to April 2023 and that the full approved amount may not be required if work wraps up earlier.
