Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for April 20 to 27:
Sometime since April 1, a suspect stole a 33-foot-long sailboat named Emma Jade from Whiskey Slough in the 12700 block of Warnock Road, Madeira Park. The keys had been left on the boat, which is described as a Canadian Wares brand welded aluminum boat with a grey hull and white upper structure. It has twin engines, a wheelhouse with two seats, and a wooden interior galley with room for two people. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2020-2635.
Other Thefts
• Between April 17 and 20, suspects disassembled a metal storage shed located in the back of a business in the 5500 block of Shorncliffe Avenue, Sechelt, and stole most of the parts, as well as a wheelbarrow and two shovels. A large portion of the metal panelling as well as the wheelbarrow were recovered later.
• Between April 21 and 22, a suspect stole a bike from inside a building in the 5500 block of Inlet Avenue, Sechelt. The bike is described as a women’s “Specialized” hybrid bike with blue writing on the frame. The file is still under investigation.
• Overnight on April 23, suspects stole 30 galvanized metal fencing panels (10 feet by eight feet) from a construction site in the 700 block of Park Road, Gibsons. The suspects also took 17 company advertisement banners that were attached to the fence panels. Banners were six feet by eight feet white vinyl with Longman Developments logo printed on them. • Between April 24 and 26, a suspect stole a number of boat parts from a business in the 5900 block of Sechelt Inlet Road, Sechelt. The stolen items include a five-horsepower Honda four-stroke boat motor with a blue sticker that says “Galleon” on the hood, two Scotty brand electric extendable down riggers with lead balls and releases. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2020-2639.
• On April 26, police received a theft report from a residence in the 3800 Francis Peninsula Road, Madeira Park, of a Yamaha F20, 20-horsepower outboard motor that had been attached to a boat stored in a carport. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2020-2643.
Mischief
• On April 25, a suspect smashed several vehicle windshields at a business in the 1000 block of Gibsons Way, Gibsons. The suspect was identified and arrested while being investigated for another incident. The file is still under investigation.
• On April 27, a Coast resident discovered a suspect had cut the fuel line and drilled a hole in the under carriage of his vehicle while it was parked in the 6800 block of Highway 101, Sechelt. No other damage or theft was reported.
Break and Enter
• Early on April 25, police attended a possible break and enter report at a business in the 900 block of Gibsons Way, Gibsons, after staff witnessed a male inside the building who appeared to be trying to break his way out through glass door and window. The male suspect had fled by the time police arrived, and it was determined that the suspect had gained access through a skylight. The suspect damaged some business machinery inside the premises and a cash drawer was stolen. The suspect, who is known to police, was located in the nearby woods and was arrested. The file is still under investigation.
• Between April 24 and 27, suspects pried open a locked shed door in the back of a business in the 5591 Wharf Avenue, Sechelt, and stole a number of items including a black and yellow power washer and various empty alcohol containers. Anyone with any information about this break and enter is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2020-2669.
• Sometime between April 21 and 26, a suspect cut padlocks to gain entrance to a storage container in the 6200 Norwest Bay Road, Sechelt, and stole a Snap-On cordless impact driver, a box of stainless steel hydraulic fittings and a bin full of electronic parts for Ford trucks. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2020-2644.
Lost Boat
• Overnight on April 27, a boat was reported missing from the waters near the 300 block of Avalon Drive, Gibsons. The boat is described as a 15-foot-long two-position rowboat that had been set up as a sailboat. The boat is white with a blue interior and had an assortment of equipment with it. The name Row vs Wade is written on both sides of the bow. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2020-2663.
Found Property
• On April 21, some cash that had been found in Gibsons was turned in to police. Owner may claim within 90 days with detailed description. Please reference police file 2020-2524.
• On April 26, dentures were turned into RCMP. Owner may claim within 90 days with detailed description. Please reference police file 2020-2645.
Erratic Driver
• On April 23, police witnessed a southbound vehicle on Highway 101 near Tyson Road, Roberts Creek, driving under the posted speed limit and veering back and forth over the double solid, especially on a curved portion of the road. As the vehicle continued to travel erratically, police initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the lone driver. Police determined that the driver was not impaired but was experiencing a medical issue. A driver’s licence review has been requested from the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles.
Impaired Driving
• On the afternoon of April 26, police stopped a possible impaired driver on Norwest Bay Road, near Highway 101, and noted the driver exhibiting possible signs of impairment by alcohol. The driver, who advised he’d consumed alcohol earlier in the day, was given a roadside alcohol screening test. After two “warn” results, the N-driver was issued a three-day immediate roadside prohibition and a violation ticket for driving contrary to condition. The matter has been referred to RoadSafetyBC.
