• Between May 7 and 10, a suspect gained entry to a storage trailer in the 5700 block of Cowrie Street, Sechelt, by breaking off a lock, and stole a large number of items, including ice cream, cellphone chargers, battery chargers, a Red Bull cooler, small model cars and painted mural rocks. Police are looking into possible surveillance video footage that may have caught the suspect in the act. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2021-2977.

Illegal Dumping

• On May 5, a suspect illegally dumped garbage at a business in the 7800 block of Fawn Road, Halfmoon Bay. The suspect attempted to put the garbage in the dumpster, but when they found it locked, they left the garbage beside the dumpster before driving away in a small silver Chevy hatchback. The middle-aged driver was of average height, had a slender build, and was wearing a hat and glasses.

Hit & Run

• On May 7 at approximately 3:30 p.m., a hit and run occurred at a parking lot in the 1100 block of Highway 101, Gibsons. The suspect vehicle, described by a witness as a gold Jeep Cherokee, bumped into the parked vehicle’s driver side door before fleeing the scene without leaving any information for the parked vehicle driver. Fortunately, the witness was able to note the licence plate number down so police will be following up with the registered owner. The file is still under investigation.

Theft

• On May 4, staff at a business in the 5500 block of Wharf Avenue, Sechelt, reported a theft after the suspect took an item off the shelf and fled the premises without paying for it. The suspect, who is known to police, was located a short while later on a separate complaint and the stolen property was found in the suspect’s possession. The suspect was arrested for theft under $5,000 and the file is still under investigation.

• On May 6, a witness reported a shoplifter at a business in the 5500 block of Wharf Avenue, Sechelt, after the male suspect was seen wandering around the premises, placing items in his pockets, then going around and putting them back. Witnesses reported the suspicious behaviour to staff but the suspect left with several unpaid-for-items before he could be detained or police were alerted. The suspect, who was caught on surveillance video, is described as a 20- to 30-something Caucasian male with dark brown hair and short facial hair, average build, wearing black pants, blue jacket and white sneakers. The file is still under investigation.

• On May 7, a business in the 900 block of Gibsons Way, Gibsons, reported a theft after a female suspect with green hair was caught on surveillance video hiding a pair of shoes in her jacket before leaving the premises without paying for them. The file is still under investigation.

• On May 7, a female suspect was caught on surveillance video putting on a new pair of shoes at a business in the 900 block of Gibsons Way, Gibsons, and walking out of the store without paying for them. The COVID-masked suspect was dressed all in black and had dyed light red hair. Police are reviewing video footage and the file is still under investigation.

• Overnight on May 5, a suspect stole 10 black plastic solar garden lights from a residence in the 5700 block of Anchor Drive, Sechelt. No other items were stolen and no damage was reported

Found Property

• On May 5, a power tool found in the 5700 block of Cowrie Street, Sechelt, was turned in. Owner may claim within 90 days with detailed description. Please reference police file 2021-2866.
