Yeehaa, what a day! Wind, rain, choppy conditions on the water - but it didn't deter 50 or so people from taking the annual Polar Boar Plunge at Armours Beach on Jan. 1.
A great crowd of people was on hand to cheer these hearty souls into the water. This year it felt almost balmy.
This was a record-setting year for the Polar Boar, as there was the largest age gap between the youngest and oldest swimmers. Three-and-a-half year old Gavin Houle, without a whimper, and 85 years young Bertha Sturdivan, with a hoot as part of the Gals in Gowns crew, added to the fun and excitement of this year's event.
Thanks to kitchen staff Jen, Clare and Carmen and floor guy Fred. And thank you to everyone in and out of the water for your smiling happy faces. See you in 2007, same time, same place, Polar Boar fans. Oink, oink for 2006.
