Weekends will see more runs on Sunshine Coast Transit’s Routes 90 (Sechelt-Gibsons/Langdale Ferry Express) 3 (Sechelt Arena) and 4 (Halfmoon Bay) starting Oct. 15.

In an Oct. 1 press release from BC Transit detailed that the Express route will see the addition of one trip on Sunday. One more trip will also be added on weekdays. Its website schedule for this service shows current Saturday offerings on this route starting with a 6:11 a.m. departure from Trail Bay Mall in downtown Sechelt and ending with a departure from Langdale at 9:10p.m. that is scheduled to arrive back at that mall at 9:53p.m. Sunday service commences in downtown Sechelt at 6:55a.m. and concludes with a departure from Langdale at 8:05p.m. that arrives at the Trail Bay Centre on Cowrie Street at 8:45pm.

One trip will be added to each Sunday and Saturday on the Arena route. The website currently shows eight trips on the Arena route on weekend days.

An additional opportunity to travel on the Halfmoon Bay route will be on the schedule for Sundays. For that route, Saturdays currently see eight trips and with the addition, Sundays will also have eight runs.

Scheduling for travel via Route 2 (West Sechelt) is being reduced by one trip on Saturdays, but two trips are being added each weekday. Sunday service is not being changed. Currently, weekdays see service on this line starting at 4:56a.m. and a total of 21 trips, with service concluding at 12:39a.m. Weekend service sees a similar start time, but on Saturdays it winds up at 10:46pm and on Sunday the last stop on the route is made at 9:06p.m.

In the release, BC Transit stated “These changes are to better meet the needs of our customers and provide more travel options”. It encourages the public to visit its website for more information about trip planning, schedules and to sign up for customer alerts which can be customized to specific routes using the "my alerts" option. Also on that website are pages dedicated to the Umo fare system, mobile app and reloadable fare card, which allows customers to select the best payment method for their travel needs.
