District of Sechelt's municipal hall has temporarily moved its reception area to the Sechelt Operations Centre on Dusty Road because of a water leak.
Members of the public needing to speak with someone or acquire business licences, payments or other information can do so at the Dusty Road location between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Those looking to speak with the planning department can call or email the department to set up an appointment.
The leak also caused the closure of the Sechelt Library on Wednesday. Staff at the District of Sechelt office discovered a leaking pipe as they arrived at work on Wednesday morning. By 1 p.m. that day, the restoration company had already come and gone, communications manager Lindsay Vickers said. “Things just need to dry out.”
On the District of Sechelt side, only the front reception area and conference room were affected. Carpets were soaked. The community meeting room was fine, though Vickers said the front of the library — which shares the building — may have some damage.
