Capilano College's Eldercollege is expanding its course offerings to entice residents who live in the northern end of the Sunshine Coast. If you are 55 years or older, you are invited to celebrate spring with four pleasant afternoons at the Griffith Centre.

On March 26, Eldercollege presents Michael Jackson who will review new species of fish discovered just last fall in the Pender Harbour area, attracting worldwide attention from medical researchers.

On April 9, Egmont's Jessica Casey offers an Aboriginal perspective on cedar weaving and medicinal plants. Casey is a descendant of a Sechelt woman, Kwahama Kwatleemat who married Portuguese Joe Silvey of Gold Rush fame in 1872. Exploring the Sechelt legacy will enrich your life. April 23, ornithologist Tony Greenfield welcomes the many species of returning tropical birds nesting here. Identifying them will be fun. Finally on May 7, local green energy consultant, John Dafoe, will teach how to use solar energy to reduce your carbon footprint and save money. All sessions run from 1 to 3 p.m.

Registration in advance is done by calling 604-885-9310. The fee is only $30.
