Tomorrow (Sept. 24), popular Vancouver garden teacher and author Judy Newton will demonstrate new ways to make beautiful arrangements from what's growing in your fall garden.

Newton taught courses at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Botanical Garden for many years. One of her duties was making botanical decorations for special university events such as ceremonies, visiting dignitaries, even the G-8 summit. Her arrangements range in size from tiny ones to gigantic sprays of foliage. She'll demonstrate how to use flowers, branches, leaves, grasses, fruit and vegetables to decorate your home for autumn.

The workshop will be held at the Sunshine Coast Nursery, 1826 Sunshine Coast Highway, from 2 to 3 p.m. Cost is $5 for botanical garden club members, $8 for non-members. Pre-register at the nursery or call 604-885-0890. This event is sponsored by the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden Society. For more information, visit www.coastbotanicalgarden.org.
