The Salvation Army Sunshine Coast's cold weather shelter has opened for the season at 682 Gibsons Way (where the office and food bank are).

The 10-bed shelter is open every night from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. from Oct. 17 to April 15. The shelter has showers; laundry; hot meals, breakfast and a bagged lunch; and on-site support staff.

An outreach worker is on call for resources and referrals at 604-741-1474 and the shelter phone is monitored 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. at 604-886-3467. During the day, one may call the office at 604-886-3665.

Donations of items such as sleeping bags, tents, warm socks, gloves, winter coats, waterproof gear and other warm clothes like base layers are always in demand, says the Town of Gibsons website. While no more blankets are needed, socks and underwear are.
