A cabin cruiser was spotted perched on a tidal rock outside of Gibsons Harbour in Shoal Channel on Tuesday, April 6. The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre called Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCM-SAR) Station 14 at 7:06 p.m. to assess the vessel. The RCMSAR crew weren’t able to move the vessel. However, as there was no apparent hull damage or risk to the environment, the crew established the vessel wouldn’t be compromised when the tide came back in. “It was calm weather, fortunately,” said RCMSAR-14 station leader David Croal. Vancouver Coast Guard later confirmed the boat floated off the rock with the tide and continued to its ultimate destination.
