BC Ferries further announced the sailings of the 2:10 p.m. sailing departing Horseshoe Bay and the 3:15 p.m. sailing departing Langdale.
"Our engineers have identified the issue and are working hard on repairs which are expected to be completed within the hour," said the BC Ferries service notice sent out at 3:25 p.m. "We anticipate to resume service with the scheduled 4:20 p.m. sailing from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale, if repairs are successful.
"Customers with bookings on the impacted, cancelled sailings today will have their reservations cancelled and any fees refunded. Travel will revert back to standby basis. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of this cancellation."
Earlier story:
As the Queen of Coquitlam faces a "mechanical difficulty", BC Ferries has cancelled four sailings servicing the lower Sunshine Coast for today, March 11.
Just after noon, the company announced additional cancellations after a service update earlier in the day.
Two round-trip sailings were affected: the 9:45 a.m. from Horseshoe Bay, the 10:50 a.m. from Langdale, then the 11:55 a.m. from Horseshoe Bay and the 1:05 p.m. leaving Langdale.
BC Ferries's latest update said repairs are underway. Customers who made reservations on the cancelled sailings will have those fees cancelled and refunded. Travel will be on a standby basis.
In the meantime, a 40-passenger water taxi will sail between Horseshoe Bay and Langdale, free of charge. Long-term parking at Horseshoe Bay is not currently available.
The Queen of Surrey is currently out of service for its annual maintenance until April 12.
