The lower Sunshine Coast will have to live without the "L-run" for a few more months, BC Ferries announced Friday, March 18.
The service change on Route 3 between Langdale and Horseshoe Bay began on Jan. 28, and will now continue through to June 22. This is the second extension of that schedule alteration, which the company said is due to to crewing challenges expected in the months ahead.
Although the number of sailings will stay the same, the evening commuter sailing is pushed from 5:30 p.m. to 6:35 p.m. leaving Horseshoe Bay. The next sailing leaving that terminal runs at 8:45 p.m.
Leaving Langdale, the sailings have been moved to 7:40 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. - the last run of the day.
The changes, however, will not be in effect for April 25 through 28. At that time, BC Ferries is adding seven additional sailings in both directions, bringing it up to an almost hourly service.
Service changes have also come into effect for the Horseshoe Bay - Departure Bay service for Nanaimo and the Earls Cove - Saltery Bay connection. The last northbound connection sailing is 6:35 p.m. from Horseshoe Bay instead of the regular 7:50 p.m. sailing.
