The xwesam-Roberts Creek Community Association has proudly named Nelly Nadembega as this year’s recipient of its annual bursary. A recent graduate of Elphinstone Secondary School, Nelly will soon embark on her academic journey at Université de Montréal, where she plans to pursue studies in political science and economics. This seems like a natural fit, given that Nelly served as a Member of Parliament for the 2023 and 2024 Pan-Canadian Youth Parliaments and also represented British Columbia in the Senate in Ottawa, where she met with four senators to advocate for an amendment to the Official Languages Act.

Embodying the core values of Roberts Creek, Nelly is celebrated for her passion for politics and social activism, generosity, and community spirit.

The Board extends our heartfelt congratulations to Nelly and wishes her every success in her future endeavours. The bursary is a testament to the community’s commitment to supporting young Creekers, aiming to empower promising students like Nelly as they pursue higher education and contribute positively to society.
