It’s time for the 2024 Kettle Campaign where the Salvation Army raises funds for its many local programs.

The Salvation Army is seeking volunteers and donations for its 2024 Kettle Campaign, which raises funds for local services, including hot lunches, food hampers, the food cupboard and the 10-bed cold-wet weather shelter.

Many have turned to the organization for the first time this year, given rising costs, said a press release. On the Sunshine Coast, the organization has registered 52 new households in the past three months and this year the organization has served more than 500 people.

The local Salvation Army has also served more than 17,000 hot meals, provided more than 1,900 food hampers (35 per cent more than last year) and provided more than $3,000 in vouchers for items from its thrift stores.

The Kettle Campaign, which starts Nov. 22, aims to raise $85,000 this year, with all funds going to its local programs.

Individuals can contribute by signing up as a kettle host (the shifts are two hours) or by donating to the campaign at one of the six kettle locations.

Groups can sign up to be kettle hosts and can sponsor ($500) or co-sponsor ($250) a kettle.

Businesses can match kettle funds over one or more days at one of the kettle locations, or set up specialty kettles at Christmas parties instead of exchanging gifts.
