The Sunshine Coast Skating Club (SCSC) had six skaters attend the Inter-Provincial Autumn Leaves Super Series Competition in Chilliwack Oct. 2 to 6. This was the first competition for the start of this 2024-25 skating season for our skaters, but the second of the season for most mainland clubs. The Autumn Leaves skating competition is an inter-provincial competition with skaters from as far away as Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and even several from Eastern Canada. Initially, the competition was slated for a Friday, Saturday and Sunday but with the large number of registrations from across Canada, it quickly grew to become a four-day event starting on Thursday, Oct 3. The competition had 1,000 skaters from all over the B.C. Coast, Cariboo North Central, Kootenay, Okanagan, Vancouver Island regions, and also many coming from across Canada in both the Star and Podium Pathway (competitive) streams.

Our skaters brought home two silver medals:  Star 6 Women Silver Medal Brielle Avila, Star 4 U13 Silver medal Keira Squires and two Silver Ribbons/Assessments in the Star 3 category: Alta O’farrell (Grp 15) and  Amelia Nanson (Grp 16). Additionally, Ally Sato placed seventh in her Star 4 U13 (Grp 4), and Star 4 U13 (Grp 5) Eva Alvarez placed fifth. We are super proud of these hard-working skaters. Congratulations to all of them!

Our skaters are training hard and working diligently preparing for our two next competitions. We are sending two SCSC skaters, Isabella Watts and Jayda Stevenson, to the Provincial Sections Championships, Nov. 7 to 10 in Parksville. And, one of our largest groups of skaters will be attending the Regional Jingle Blades Competition in North Surrey, this Nov. 21 to 24, competing in 25 events. Stay tuned...
